Welcome Fall

What a great way to start a new season…as Fall arrived, I was introduced to what I will now call a annual tradition, Blessing of the Fleet. As I trekked down to Southern MD on Saturday afternoon, after a long long morning working at the ADA Step Out: Walk to Fight Diabetes, I found myself exhausted and not wanting to attend yet another fundraiser. However, about 15 seconds of being down near St. Clements Island quickly changed my attitude for the afternoon. It didn’t hurt that the weather was perfect, but the island was bustling with local “7-D” and St. Mary’s County folk. There was the aroma of traditional southern food and a great live band playing in the background. That isn’t what got me hooked though. Walking down into Blessing of the Fleet, it’s hard to miss the breath taking view of the water. I am what some people have called “destined to live in SMC” but this weekend, I decided that it was definitely going to happen. I couldn’t get enough of the sparkling water, southern hospitality, and genuinely picturesque country fair.

Great food, fun music, good company, what a perfect way to end summer and start fall.
